Okay, so it's 11/05/2016. I changed gigs back last December, 12/7/2015 and am now a Chemical Dependency Technician for Gateway Foundation in Lake Villa, IL. I love the work. I do miss my coworkers and the work I used to do for Bowen Center Inpatient Unit back in Warsaw, IN. They were top of the line professionals, and their firm gave me my start in the human services field. But I've gone from one top of the line firm to another, and have not missed a beat so far as I'm concerned. Bowen is the premier mental health services provider in Indiana, and Gateway is the premier addiction recovery treatment provider in Illinois. The new job is similar, yet different. The clients are similar, but different. The challenges are similar, yet different. I love the work. My supervisors and coworkers here are top notch in every way. If you or somebody you know struggles with addiction issues, contact Gateway Foundation - http://recovergateway.org

The Supreme Court handed down a horrible decision yesterday on abortion and I’m angry. It is beyond the pale that the Supreme Court continues to revel in its decision to kill children. They obviously love it. They cannot wait to allow legalized murder. They eat, drink, live and dream of it. They deliberately legislate from the bench to take life whenever and wherever possible. If it/you/I live or breathe, they will invent new legislation from their bench to kill it/you/or I. That's what our society has come down to, legalizing the expedient murder of whomever is next on the list. And nobody can do anything about it but hope another case comes in that might be able to change things, that is, if those same judges have an off day, forget themselves and choose life for a change. Liberals and Democrats are behind it. There are parts of the general population they have no use for, so they order legalized murder as their answer. They don't like it, they kill it, period. Too old? Kill them, too. Babies are easy...especially in the womb. Safety of women? Not a chance. Killing them plus their kids is a bonus. All this sounds so cynical and sad, but its true. And look at what else has come about because of it all. And it never ends. We can be angry about this Supreme Court decision, but it won't change it. We need continue the fight against abortion, absorb the losses and hope for the best. It's all we've got. You have my prayers for you and your work in Pro-Life, your organization, and those whom you support - personally and organizationally. This battle is not over, but its likely going to take decades for even the slightest positive legislation to support the cause. I'm angry, sad and even fearful that I and others may in fact be next on the hunting list of those who are on their murder spree.

So...it's been awhile...today's entry is first since 2015. I've changed jobs and moved around quite a bit. I'm no longer living in Indiana! I'm now a resident of Wauconda, IL. My wife and I rent an apartment with a beautiful lake view. I now work for a recovery treatment center that helps people recover from alcoholism and drug addiction(s). My position is that of a chemical dependency technician. Hope all is going well with you....

The Wolf-Owl's Perch

It's not been quite a year since my last post(8-4-2014) and I'm pretty much of the same opinion, namely "okay...so the blog idea hasn't been quite the next big thing after all...." It's fun to write, but I just don't seem as yet to want to write a lot. And publicly, its a bit scary to admit. That all said, much has been going on in my life, and I enjoy periodically checking in. And who knows? This might just become more of a site for me to frequent after all. Check back as you can. Thanks for stopping by for a look. Let me know what you think and we'll try and go from there....Patrick
